An introduction. Of sorts. Well, you have to start somewhere.

Welcome to my website blog thingy. Or whatever it is.

I’ve always wanted to write. One of those life long urges that has never really gone away. It’s taken me a while to get started, but now that I am, I don’t feel like stopping.

The obvious question is: what am I going to write about?

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure.

What you won’t find here are long monologues or earnest opinion pieces on politics, current affairs, or world events. I tend to keep my thoughts on those matters to myself. Whether that decision will age well remains to be seen.

What you will find are essays about the awkward business of being alive in a changing world. Some will be exaggerated. Some will be completely untrue. Some will be unapologetically absurd.

I like writing about small things and big happenings. A mug of hot chocolate on the coldest night of the century. A donut that ruined an otherwise perfect day. The phone call that somehow resulted in a visit to Gary, Indiana. A robot, so obsessed with knock-knock jokes that he was burned to the ground like Frankenstein’s monster.

You’ll also find short stories. Different genres, but with a soft spot for old-style science fiction — not the galaxy-spanning, thousand-year empire epics, but stories about people. Humans falling in love, killing, wheeling and dealing, and occasionally having fun with other humans, aliens, and robots. I’m a sucker for a happy ending, though I’m making no promises.

Heads up. In the long dark winter nights I’ve been known to sharpen my axe and lurk around the swampy grounds of the horror genre. Also, I’ve got a thing about the Moon.

I’m treating this whole blog malarkey as a bit of a walk through woods I’ve never been to. Let’s hold hands, stride on together, and see where we end up.
