My name is Steve Gillies. Born 1957. According to the DNA test my wife bought me for a birthday I’m 90% Scottish and 10% Italian. She was delighted with the results. I was just happy to be confirmed human.
I’ve always wanted to write. I like small stories and I prefer to keep things simple. You won’t find much in the way of purple prose.
If you are looking for the sun set behind the hills, then I’m your guy. If you prefer the incandescent orb of day sank languorously behind the undulating bosom of the hills, bleeding molten gold into the weeping sky then best to walk on by. No offence taken.
I love living in Scotland but it’s nice to travel and get a break from the cold, rain and snow. I used to play ice hockey but now I pursue the gentler sport of curling. In recent years I’ve been volunteering for a local charity and find it hugely rewarding and great fun.
What else can I tell you? I’m passionate about chilli peppers, my favourite band is Talking Heads, I’m a big fan of Celtic Football Team and my favourite writer is Edge Allen Poe. At least this week he is. Ask me again next week.
I love my wife and daughter and I am as happily married as anyone can be. If you like my scribbles let me know. Feedback is essential to developing craft.
We don’t know each other but thank you for looking in on my blog. May you never be hungry, sleep out in the cold or walk alone. May you never want more than life can give.
